Baking powder is a dry chemical leavening agent, used for increasing the volume and lightening the texture of baked goods. It usually is a mixture of a sodium bicarbonate (also known as baking soda) and a weak acid, often tartaric acid. When heated ion oven, baking powder will react react until heated in an oven, causing bubbles and thus leavening the mixture.

On the market there are several kinds of Baking Powder, nearly equal to each other, even if companies try to differentiate them, with addition of vanilla flavor, or corn starch, or other ingredients.
